My Art for Healing® Approach

My journey with expressive art began in 2006, when I started exploring how painting could help people express what can be difficult to put into words. As an artist with over twenty years of experience in commercial art, I bring a strong creative foundation to this work.

This exploration led me to discover the Art for Healing® method, where I trained and became a Certified Art for Healing Facilitator. I also received certification through the UCLA Social Emotional Arts (SEA) Program. It’s important to note that these approaches are not art therapy, but
rather an opportunity to experience art as a fun, enlightening, and a expressive process.

As someone who has experienced depression and anxiety throughout my life, I was familiar with traditional talk therapy. While it has been helpful, I often found that painting allowed me to express what lives beyond words.

Painting offered a different kind of release—transforming emotions into color on canvas, where they could be seen, felt, and understood more deeply. Through color and creative expression, I was able to access and process my feelings in a more natural and freeing way.

I continue to use this approach in my own life, especially during challenging times. It has shown me that expressive art can be a powerful way to stay grounded, process emotions, and reconnect
with myself.
